Navigating New Evangelization
Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap., was appointed by Pope John Paul II Preacher to the Papal Household in 1980 and has continued to serve in this capacity during the papacies of both Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis. He holds two doctorates, in divinity and classical literature, and several honorary degrees. Father Cantalamessa has published numerous books on theology and spirituality, which have been translated into more than twenty languages. When he is not engaged in preaching, he lives in a hermitage at Cittaducale (Rieti), Italy, ministering to a small community of cloistered nuns.
"From early missionaries to medieval monks, zealous friars to spirited artists, battling scientism to engaging modern atheists, Father Cantalamessa shows what worked in the past and applies it to today. If you want to understand the New Evangelization and carry it out, read this insightful primer by one of its greatest proponents." Brandon Vogt, author of The Church and New Media and Catholicism: The New Evangelization Study Guide
"Father Cantalamessa has crafted a book that Catholic evangelizers of every stripe will find informative, intriguing, thought-provoking, and inspiring." Sherry Weddell, Co-Director, Catherine of Siena Institute, and author of Forming Intentional Disciples
"[Navigating the New Evangelization] offers a compelling critique of atheistic scientism, rationalism, and secularism while drawing the reader ever more into the heart of Christ's message and the Church. The words of Christ, the lives of the saints and holy men and women, and the teachings of the Church are echoed in every page. This text offers an excellent contribution to the New Evangelization." The Most Reverend David L. Ricken, DD, JCL, Bishop of Green Bay, Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis
