Ten-year-old Charlotte longs for adventure. In nineteenth-century northern France, however, most girls aren't expected to have adventures. But when Charlotte finds a map of a hidden garden promising a mysterious "treasure," her ordinary life takes an exciting turn. Charlotte and her friends discover and explore the garden, and find much more than they imagined. Can Thérèse, an extraordinary fifteen-year-old girl preparing to become a Carmelite nun, help Charlotte find the true treasure inside the garden? And will Charlotte and her friends be able to save the garden from destruction? Join Charlotte as she learns to do little things with love and discovers the true mission she's been on all along. This delightfully imaginative historical novel for middle grade readers shines with the story of a friendship that transcends social class, the challenges of life, and even death itself.
