Past Const of Church In the Modern World Gaudium Et Spes

Promulgated by Pope Paul VI on December 7, 1965, "Gaudem et spes" is one of the four Apostolic Constitutions of the Second Vatican Council and the most vast. Addressed to the entire human family, Gaudium et spes sheds light on the human mystery, acknowledges the contemporary problems afflicting the world, and expresses the solidarity of the Church with men and women everywhere in the wake of two world wars and a profound crisis of spiritual and moral values. This landmark document aims to help the Church establish a working relationship with the world in which she finds herself and provides a concise overview of Catholic teaching on man's relationship to society, especially in reference to economics, poverty, social justice, culture, science and technology, and ecumenism.
