Maurus Fitzgerald, OFM (1902-1993) entered the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Name in Paterson, NJ in 1924 and was ordained in 1931. After graduate studies at The Catholic University of America and Columbia University, he earned his master's degree at Oxford University, specializing in Anglo-Saxon literature. He taught Shakespeare at Siena College (Loudonville, NY) for sixteen years, and wrote and edited for St. Anthony's Guild for the next twenty-seven. He died at Holy Name Friary after 68 years of religious profession and 62 years as a priest.
