Jesse Tree Kit (Rev) An Advent Project For Family Classroom

The Jesse Tree is a wonderful Advent tradition that fosters reflection on salvation history as a preparation for the celebration of Christmas. A Jesse Tree is a tree, or a large banner with a symbolic tree, that is decorated with ornaments or objects that represent Old Testament events from creation to the birth of Jesus. The ornaments are traditionally handmade with explanations of the symbols and a brief verse of Scripture from the story represented.

This Jesse Tree kit offers two options designed to make the Jesse Tree project accessible to any family, class, or parish.

Option 1 provides instructions for preparing an actual tree and decorating the enclosed pre-drawn ornaments.

Option 2 provides a Jesse Tree poster to which the pre-drawn ornaments may be attached. This alternative is especially helpful in a setting with limited space.

Also included in the kit are a short history of the Jesse Tree, suggested Scripure verses to accompany each ornament, and a Jesse Tree prayer service.
